Thank you!

While we are at it, I just want to thank everyone who took the time to share their feedback about The Family Nexus app. Your responses are completely anonymous, and the insights gained are invaluable. If you would still like to complete the survey, it will remain open for one more week (8/31/17).

In addition, we always welcome your comments here on the blog or sent to feedback@thefamilynexus.com. I read and respond to every one.

Insights

Here are just a few insights regarding who is using The Family Nexus app, and what you think about it.

2/3 of respondents were female

Nearly half are over 60, but respondents are generally younger than industry averages.

Most users consider themselves to be in the beginning to intermediate experience level.

Improvements

The survey provided 3 main lessons that I will be working on in future releases.

  1. Stability: Although by and large the app is very stable, some users are still experiencing crashes. In some cases the app has simply refused to open for them. We will comb through the code and the error logs to see if we can remedy this situation. After all, we want everyone to be able to enjoy The Family Nexus app!
  2. Ease of Use: Some users asked for instructions on how to use the app and how they can get the most value out of it. We will work on a better “onboarding” experience to orient new users how to use the app.
  3. More engaging: Hands-down the most popular feature (aside from visualizing you family history on a map) was the reminders and notifications. You want more reasons to engage with the app and draw you back in to learn more about your family history. We have some great ideas how to accomplish that and can’t wait to get working on them!

In conclusion, I give my heartfelt thanks again to each of you for supporting The Family Nexus. We are excited to continue this journey with you. We love facilitating discovery and fulfilling our mission of making family history mobile, social, and fun!
